Betsson Group delivers record results

Betsson Group CEO Pontus Lindwall announced that 2022 was the company’s “best year in business”. “We can look back at the best year ever for Betsson with strong growth and profitability, driven by disciplined capital allocation, geographical diversification and investments in new markets, as well as continuous strengthening of the tech platform and product offering.” he commented

Betsson Group operates through a combination of locally regulated markets and its Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) licence.

The casino unit generated 66 percent of revenues for Q 4. A breakdown of segments saw Betsson’s B2C casino unit achieve its third consecutive quarter of peak results, generating Q4 revenues of €146m (Q4 2021 were €115m). Impressive performance in Nordic European markets saw revenues increase by 8 percent YoY to €514 million.

Corporate revenues increased by 18 percent YoY to €777 million. Q4 delivered record breaking revenues of €220 million as a result of the World Cup during the last quarter. B2C casino revenues were reported at €146 million for Q4.

Sportsbook was a strong vertical with Q4 revenues reporting a turnover of €1.4 billion, an increase of 75 percent. Q4 reported EBITDA of €51m, an increase of 68 percent. EBIT reported profits of €21m with operating income declared at €40 million.

For the final quarter, total revenue was reported at €220.6m, a 40 percent increase YoY, with gross profit up by 48 percent to €144.8 million.

The record breaking results were driven by an increase in customer numbers from 1,161,683 to 1,424,794 with deposits of €1 billion, up by 40 percent YoY from €784.6 million.

LatAm

Betsson maintained record growth globally with Asia, LatAm, Central and Eastern Europe generating the highest B2C online casino revenues.

LatAm sportsbook revenues totaled €115 miillion. Betsson’s progress in Latin America was highlighted with football sponsorships n Peru and Chile. CEO Lindwall said “We are keeping an eye on Latin American countries and see that regulation is happening in that region over time pretty much everywhere.”

Lindwall also commented on the exposure of the Betsson brand in Latin America. He said? “Sponsorships are important but it is only one piece of the puzzle. We have a thorough marketing activity plan for the region, building the brand across Latin America.”

Betsson Group inaugurated its office covering Latin America in the city of Bogota, Colombia in November 2022.
