Jette Nygaard-Andersen publishes farewell statement on LinkedIn

Jette Nygaard-Andersen, the recently departed CEO of Entain, has taken to her LinkedIn page to share her reflections nearly a month after stepping down from her high-profile position. Her departure came following intensified scrutiny of M&A activities, financial performance, and a significant dip in Entain’s share price, which hit a three-year low in December.

Four-year journey of transformation

Having dedicated four years to Entain, with a substantial portion of that time spent as CEO, Nygaard-Andersen used her statement to highlight the significant strides the company made during her tenure. She acknowledged the challenges faced, including navigating M&A intricacies and the impact of a fluctuating share price, yet emphasized the positive evolution of Entain into a more robust and resilient organization.

In her own words, Nygaard-Andersen stated, “Entain is fundamentally a better and stronger company today than it has ever been.” She detailed the transformative journey undertaken, ranging from elevating governance and compliance standards to prioritizing player safety. The former CEO also underscored the implementation of a new, effective strategy that positions Entain for sustained growth across all markets, old and new.

Reflecting on the past four years, Nygaard-Andersen highlighted the company’s commitment to responsible operations, employee welfare, and customer-centric business practices. She commended Entain’s global workforce for their professionalism and passion, particularly in overcoming challenges posed by the pandemic. The result, she noted, is an expanded business operating in over 30 territories with 30,000 employees, a testament to Entain’s resilience and adaptability.

In her own words,

They say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger ??. There is enormous opportunity to innovate in the gaming industry. What has worked in the past will not always work in the present and this industry needs strategic thinkers and innovators that are passionate about doing the right thing for customers. That said, I am grateful that I have met and worked with some brilliant and talented individuals over the last four years that live and breathe this mindset.

I am taking a break over this holiday period to decompress before deciding on my next executive opportunity. So, on that note, I hope everyone has had an enjoyable festive period and I look forward to connecting with you in 2024.

Entain post-Nygaard-Andersen

Meanwhile, in recent news, Entain experienced a positive shift in its share price, registering a 3 percent climb last week. The announcement of Ricky Sandler’s appointment as a Non-Executive Director contributed to this upward trajectory, signaling potential positive changes in the company’s governance and strategic direction. As Entain moves forward post-Nygaard-Andersen, these developments underscore the ongoing dynamics within the gaming industry and the company’s commitment to resilience and growth.
